Artist Statement

My artistic process is a profound exploration of the often-overlooked textures in nature, a journey that goes beyond the surface to unveil the intricate stories embedded in the natural elements. My work is a testament to my fascination with the history of time and change, emphasizing the interconnectedness between humans and their natural environment.

To convey these nuanced narratives, I employ a meticulous approach in creating my paintings and drawings. Each piece is a carefully constructed composition of multiple layers, meticulously built to offer depth and detail. The intention is to draw the viewer into a closer examination, urging them to give proper recognition to the subject matter that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The inspiration for my creations is rooted in my time spent outdoors, where I capture the essence of my subject matter through photography. This visual documentation becomes the starting point for my artwork, acting as a catalyst for the organic development of each piece.

Throughout the creative process, intuition plays a significant role. I navigate the evolution of my subject matter through mark-making, experimentation, and layering. These elements combine to produce a delicate play on depth, primarily employing monochromatic tonality. The resulting artworks not only showcase the textural intricacies of the natural world but also evoke a contemplative engagement from the viewer.

My artistic journey is a dynamic exploration of the unnoticed textures in nature, a process that invites viewers to appreciate the profound history and interconnected relationship between humanity and the environment. Through my layered and intuitive approach, I transforms the overlooked into the focal point, allowing the subject matter to unfold with depth and recognition.
